１．因数分解型の構造とは
X(A+B)を展開するとXA+XB となるような、因数分解の構成がある
例： The beautiful and damned（美しく呪われし者）
この場合、The (beautiful and damned) = The beautiful and the damnedと考える
※XA+Bと解釈してしまうと、最早や文意がよく通じなかったり、矛盾した訳文が出来上がったりしてしまうので注意
２．因数分解型の基本３パターン
①X(A+B+...)型
②(A+B+...)X型
③以上二つが組合わされて前後に共通因数たる語句がある型
共通因数Xが前にあり、X(A+B+...)を構成する型で、展開するとXA+XB+...となる
主に and や or や、not only 〜、but also...や not〜 but...などが用いられる
例： Democracy is the government of the people, by the people and for the people. （民主主義とは、人民の、人民による、人民のための政治である）
the government ( of the people , by the people and for the people)と考える
※andは最後にだけ使うのが一般的
４．(A+B+...)X型
(A+B+...)Xは ①とは反対の順序で、展開するとAX+BX+...になる
例： I have had a varied, and often an interesting, life, but not an adventurous one.（私は、さまざまな、そしてしばしばおもしろい生活を送ってきたが、冒険的ではなかった）
(a varied and often an interesting) lifeとなり、lifeがそれぞれに相乗している
５．以上二つが組合わされて前後に共通因数たる語句がある型
X(A+B)(a+b+c+d+e) のように複雑なものもある
例： Man has taken into his service, and modified his use, the animals, the plants, the earths and the stones, the waters and winds, and the more complex forces of heat, electricity, sunlight, and magnetism, with chemical forces of many kinds.
（人間は、動物、植物、石や土、水と風、さらにまた、熱や電気や日光や磁気などいった比較的複雑な力、それに多種の科学的な力などを、人間に役立つように取り入れ、かつ人間にの利用できるよう調整してきた）
has (taken into his service , and modified his use), (the animals , the plants , the earths and the stones , the waters and winds and the more complex forces of heat, electricity, sunlight, and magnetism)のように構成されている
※andがどの語句と語句を結んでいるか、慎重に整理する必要がある
